Without focused support systems, peer workforce challenges often escalate

When organizations respond to mental health or substance use challenges without clear protocols, trained staff, or lived experience, situations quickly become more difficult for everyone involved.

Communication breaks down. Leadership becomes reactive. Teams feel unsupported. People being served lose hope.

Build a Peer Program Your Whole Team Believes In

The goal is a peer workforce that inspires confidence across the team, the organization, and the communities they serve.

With the right policies, procedures, and supports in place, organizations can:

Recognize and respond to challenges with greater confidence

Minimize peer and employee role drift

Grow program capacity

Reduce corrosive stigma and confusion

Strengthen workplace communication

Create a culture that fosters recovery and wellness

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens on the consultation call?

The 30-minute call is a chance for us to understand your organization’s current situation: what peer roles you have in place, what challenges you’re running into, and what you’re hoping to build. There’s no obligation. If we’re not the right fit, we can support you in finding someone who is.

How much does this cost?

Engagements are scoped based on your organization’s size and needs. We’ll outline costs clearly before any work begins.

Where do you work?

We are based in Massachusetts and our services are available both virtually and in-person, across the US & abroad.

We already have peer staff in place. Can you still help us?

Yes, most organizations come to us mid-stream, not at the very beginning. Whether you’re managing role confusion, staff burnout, or a lack of formal policies, we can help you scale your Peer Recovery practice sustainably.

Who will we actually be working with?

You will be working with nationally-recognized subject matter experts who have been leading and advancing Recovery Coaching work nationally and internationally for more than 20 years.

Our team includes highly credentialed professionals such as Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialists (NCPRSS), Certified Peer Specialists (CPS), Recovery Coach Professional Facilitators (RCPF), and Peer Supervision Professionals (PSP).

Who is your training designed to support?

Our training is designed to support both the recovery workforce and the people they serve. With more than 200 hours of field-tested curriculum and decades of collective experience, we help organizations build the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to support recovery and wellness in their communities.

If your recovery work is related to any of the following, we’ve got you covered:

  • Behavioral Health & Human Services
  • Healthcare & Primary Care Settings
  • Municipalities & Community Organizations
  • Justice-Involved Populations
  • Departments of Children and Families
  • Labor Unions & Workforce Programs
  • Corporate & Workplace Wellness Initiatives
  • Recovery Coach & Peer Workforce Development
  • Family & Community Support Services
What size organizations do you work with?

We work with organizations of all sizes, from small community nonprofits to large health systems, that support young people, adults, and families across diverse populations and throughout the full continuum of recovery & mental wellness care.

What is a peer recovery coach?

A peer recovery coach is someone with lived experience of substance use and/or mental health challenges who provides non-clinical support to others seeking wellness and/or recovery at any stage of their journey. Unlike clinicians, peer coaches draw on their own lived experience to build trust and support individuals on building their recovery wellness capital so they can create the lives they dream of and thrive. The peer recovery coach’s role is distinct from, and complementary to, clinical, medical, judicial, collegiate and corporate staff.

What does "recovery-ready workplace" mean?

A recovery-ready workplace is one where leadership and staff understand substance use and mental health, know how to respond supportively, and have clear policies in place that allow for consistent care. It reduces stigma, supports employees in all roles, and creates an environment where people feel safe in seeking help. Teams become efficient and most effective while outcomes are maximized.

What is MassHealth billing for peer services?

MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid), Medicare and all commercial Insurers reimburse for peer recovery support services, which means eligible organizations can bill for peer and recovery coach services rather than absorbing those costs entirely. We can help you understand whether your organization qualifies and how to set up that billing correctly.

Is this a one-time training or ongoing support?

Both. Some organizations engage us for a single training or policy project. Some bring us in as an ongoing partner for supervision, curriculum development, and capacity building. Others contract/sub-contract us to do the work. We’ll scope whatever makes sense for your situation.

How long does it take to see results?

Some things, like clearer communication and reduced role confusion, often shift quickly once training is in place. Building a full recovery-oriented culture is a longer process that can typically span anywhere between 6 months and 2 years to plan, strategize and implement. It all depends on the size of your organization and the scope of your project. .

Let’s Plan What’s Next in Your Journey.

myCHOiCE helps you build shared tools, clear workflows, and consistent coaching support so individuals, families, and teams stay aligned, communicate clearly, and build stability that lasts.
