It’s the New Year, already February and you’re getting close to being back to the norm. Maybe you’re even there already! Possibly, you’re still holding on to your New Year’s resolution! That’s awesome! You’ve been unselfishly supporting everyone around you for so long and you promised yourself that this year was going to be different! What was your vision for that? and how far did you get?

What you may be wondering is where are you at? ..what if you were to meet yourself there?

Now you’re at work, you’re almost halfway into the first quarter. Sure, it’s been a little slow and you have some new people walking in seeking support. What are they looking for, maybe a warm place and a cup of coffee, maybe transportation support, housing, a computer class or some clothes for their upcoming interview? Maybe they just wanted to feel accepted somewhere and spent the afternoon plucking some notes on the old piano in the back.

Either way, we’re building capital. Recovery Capital, ”the breadth and depth of internal and external resources that can be drawn upon to initiate and sustain recovery from severe AOD problems.” This wonderful definition is from Granfield & Cloud in 1999. We’ve all built some capital as well as some understanding in the past 25 years.

Let’s zoom out of 1999 and into today. What if we were to expand that and think about Wellness Capital? Possibly looking at the 8 dimensions of wellness or even simplifying into Home, Health, Wellness, Community and Purpose. You don’t need to label any of it or get boxed into anything. Wellness is for EVERYBODY!

Supporting others is a beautiful privilege and building on your personal wellness capital honors all of those around, especially you.

Look at where you might be at. What do you want to build and how will you measure it this year?

We have a handful of 2 CE classes if you’re in need of 2 or more credits to complete your certification or you may just want to get energized to sharpen your skills. Coming up from our RiZEMA partnership, Applied Coaching and Supervision Series:

SELF-CARE LEADERSHIP

We know that a good portion of the individuals you support have both challenges with substances as well as mental health challenges. Another partnership with RiZEMA focused on some new tools to support them in our 12 CE training:
