Recovery Month Extravaganza 2024!

It is always a good time to reminisce about how far you have come in your journey and now is particularly a good time since September is Recovery Month!

I think of my friend Sunshine Scotty who on a daily says that he is “Grateful and Happy” when someone asks how he is doing, even when things may not be going so happily, he is grateful and happy to be alive.

This helps me remember that 16 years ago, you were more likely to step over or walk around me as I was passing out on NYC sidewalks than reading our monthly newsletter here. If I wasn’t being politely escorted out of places, I was literally thrown out.

I had been fired from the bar I was working at, the artists I worked with couldn’t get rid of me fast enough and the two friends that I had continuously reminded me of what an ass I was the night before. I had nothing going on, nothing to do. No one was interested and no one cared, let alone wanted to have anything to do with me.

The fact that my life no longer looks like that today truly is a gift.

Today, I have purpose, something to get out of bed and put my shoes on for.

Today, I have many people in my life who also want mein theirs!

(See the SUPER special “Team By CHOiCE” cookie that wegot from our teammates at our end of the Summer gathering? I would have never imagined this precovery!)

Today, I love me better than ever!

What makes Recovery Month worth Celebrating for you?

CHOiCE Recovery Coaching is proud to announce that we are now Powered by

RIZE Massachusetts Foundation!

Mosaic Opioid Recovery Partnership (Mosaic), funded by the MA Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Addiction Services and powered by RIZE Massachusetts Foundation, is a unique, public-private collaboration designed to fund initiatives in communities that have been historically underserved and have experienced a high rate of opioid-related overdose deaths.

We are looking forward to sharing our initiative with you as we move forward!

Redefining Community Wellness Grant

In collaboration with Health Resources in Action (HRiA), we are fostering the Peer Recovery Workforce by training 36 Recovery Coaches and then supporting them to turn around and advocate for recovery in their communities. This will increase the Recovery Capital of coaches, recoverees, communities and everyone else in their vicinity! Do you know someone seeking support? This first cohort will have Recovery Coaches from Hampden and Worcester Counties who will be ready to support people in just a few weeks! Have people call us at 413-272-8520 ! Recovery Coaching at NO COST!
Need CE’s for CARC Re-Certification or Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) Designation? We have a few trainings this month that can help you with that while increasing your personal skillset. Storytelling for the Recovery Workforce 6 CE’s, Ethics for the Recovery Workforce 6 CE’s , and Coaching Mental Wellness 12 CE’s. In October we will begin with our multiple 2-hour session series: Applied Coaching and Supervision (also 12 CE’s altogether). The beloved Recovery Coach Academy (CCAR) right after !
