Recovery Coach Supervisor Position

At Choice Recovery Coaching, we firmly believe in every individual’s capacity for recovery. Our mission empowers people by helping them define what recovery uniquely means to them, building their recovery capital, and removing barriers along their journey. Central to this process is the dedication of Peer Recovery Coach Supervisors, who offer essential support, mentorship, and stewardship to our recovery coaches. Supervisors play a critical role in enhancing the quality of support provided to individuals seeking and maintaining recovery by effectively supervising and inspiring coaches. We deeply value the contributions of our supervisors, recognizing their leadership as an integral part of Wellness Recovery-Oriented Systems.

Responsibilities
The role of the Peer Recovery Coach Supervisor will entail:

 

  1. Conduct alternating weekly calls and group meetings to review Recovery Coaches’ performance and progress, specifically addressing:
  • Overall coaching performance and effectiveness.
  • Quality of interaction and engagement with Recoverees.
  • Challenges encountered and accomplishments achieved by participants.
  • Implementation and reinforcement of coaching skills, along with the introduction of new techniques to enhance coaching capacity.
  • Alignment of coaching practices with agency requirements, while preserving the integrity of the peer recovery model.
  • Appropriate and accurate documentation of coaching sessions with Recoverees.
  • Tracking of hours worked, completion of required coursework, and fulfillment of additional criteria necessary for certification as a Massachusetts Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC).
  1. Provide ongoing support through telecommunication methods as necessary.
  1. Facilitate periodic face-to-face meetings, both individually and in group settings.
  1. Offer guidance and assistance in establishing regional networks and connections with recovery communities and associated support services.
  1. Advocate effectively on behalf of the organization, coaches, and recoverees when appropriate.
  1. Promote awareness, encourage, and support recovery coaches in practicing self-care to enhance overall wellbeing and sustainability.
  1. Provide comprehensive training for recovery coaches and support their ongoing professional growth and capacity development.
  1. Ensure recovery coaches remain informed about developments, trends, and best practices within the recovery coaching field, both regionally and nationally.

Professional Qualifications:

 

  • Must possess lived and/or living experience with recovery with mental health and/ or substance use recovery.
  • Successful completion of the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy Training provided by qualified RCP-F trainers.
  • Proficiency with general computer applications, including internet navigation, word processing software, email platforms, and related technologies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education or training preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the integration between mental health, medical care, substance use disorder management and associated human service systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to effectively collaborate within interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation strongly preferred.
  • Completion of Recovery Coach Supervisor Training provided by qualified TOT trainers.
  • Preferred attainment and ongoing maintenance of Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) or Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) designation.

  • Teamwork: Listens to others and values opinions, helps team to meet goals, welcomes newcomers, and promotes a team atmosphere.

Recovery Training Facilitator

The Recovery Training Facilitator for Choice Recovery Coaching conducts training for the Recovery Workforce, ensuring adherence to approved curriculum and delivering sessions in a structured and scheduled manner. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a strong focus on detail. The ideal candidate is professional, friendly, supportive, and self-directed, embodying CHOICE Recovery’s core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Additionally, the Training Facilitator must possess in-depth knowledge of adult learning theory.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand and effectively train Recovery Coach candidates in the five domains of Certified Recovery Coaching: Advocacy, Mentoring/Education, Recovery/Wellness Support, Ethical Responsibility and Harm Reduction.
  • Present modules in the approved training curricula using appropriate technologies, materials, and supplies.
  • Facilitation of group interaction during the recovery coach training.
  • Answer questions raised by training participants.
  • Effectively monitor group and individual interactions including setting appropriate boundaries on disclosure and participant interactions
  • Circulate among small groups during role playing and related exercises to support and assist.
  • Manage participation throughout the presentations of content material and assure all learners have an opportunity to contribute.
  • When presenting with a co-facilitator, monitor the group and contribute information appropriately in order to support learning.
  • Support learners to complete course evaluations and inform them of program logistics.
  • Understand the certification/ recertification process within the state and provide coaching and support to individuals seeking certification/ recertification processes.
  • Assist with marketing training and programs to potential participants and stakeholders.
  • Discretely handle sensitive information
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions while creating an inspirational space for learning.
  • Must be a Subject Matter Expert in the areas of Addiction, Recovery and/ or Mental Health and Wellness. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in direct contact with recovery support programming including work as a recovery coach, certified peer specialist, substance use disorder counselor, working in a recovery community center, as a health care or criminal justice professional working with persons in treatment or recovery.
  • Completion of an approved recovery coach training with 30 hours in the core domains, including the ethical responsibilities of a recovery coach.
  • Must hold and/ or be working towards certification as a Recovery Coach Professional (RCPF) Facilitator for Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations and maintain them.
  • Previous experience in facilitating Addiction/ Recovery/ Mental Wellness groups and/or curricula.
  • Spanish speaking at a professional fluency level a plus.
  • Familiar with online meeting platforms a plus.
