How has the first part of the year treated you? Some of us have loved, some of us have lost, some of us have been heard and some of us have been hurt.
We’ve had a slow start to the year and it’s been tough. As we’ve been slowly building, we just turned six and it’s been far from smooth sailing. Things seemed to be at the lowest point for a while as we were scraping at the bottom of the barrel. We literally had storm after storm at the end of last year, both proverbially, losing multiple team members, getting heartbroken being treated as the token recovery organization, running ragged pushing through into this new year submitting four grants in a six week period (starting at the top of the holiday season no less!) and then literally, enduring another back-breaking snowstorm brought on added stress as the hits kept comin’.
All I could think about was that we must push forward and through. I was incredibly grateful for a few potential partners, one of which was greatly instrumental in one of the proposals from which we learned immensely from and another where a lack of collaboration greatly educated and drove me to the point of actually being proud of submitting an incomplete application anyways! With all of this, I can say it has truly been a long cold winter. When I finally took note of this, March 1st was here!
It was a beautiful, crisp sun-shiney day and just as I was finishing up an Infinite Pathways of Recovery training, I got the email. CHOiCE Recovery Coaching was chosen to participate in one of the grants! I shed a tear of relief and heard Jim Wuelfing’s voice in my head, “You do good work, you will always have work.” As I shared with a colleague the other day, he reminded me that the Universe provides and it was all for a reason as we are about to ramp things up. Spring is just around the corner!
Time to move on, it’s a new era. The new season is like a new chapter, time to turn that page and step into the next stage of recovery. 🙏
